Request for Data Access

Connected West Yorkshire has successfully obtained approvals from the NHS Research Ethics Committees and Confidential Advisory Group (under section 251) along with establishing data sharing agreements and secure data environments.

“Key Things to Know” Guide for researchers

Top things researchers need to know about CWY:

  • Anonymised individual-level data: re-identification of individuals is not possible for research purposes.
  • Small case numbers: studies with very few cases may not be feasible due to re-identification risk.
  • No linkage between individuals: e.g., linking mothers with babies is not supported.
  • Data provision is via a Secure Virtual Environment
  • Minimum technical competence required: researchers will need basic skills in SQL, Python and R.
