Gill has a background is in physiology, epidemiology and biostatistics, and is currently a statistician on the BiB family of cohorts. She has over 25 years’ research experience and has contributed to numerous studies, including those on rheumatoid arthritis, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, childhood leukaemia, pesticide exposure in sheep farmers, radiation oncology, clinical trials, and cohort studies. She has published 100 peer-reviewed publications, reflecting her wide-ranging research expertise. Gill is a co-applicant several grants, including BiB Breathes (an evaluation of the health impact of the Bradford Clean Air Plan); BETTER4U (a European consortium aimed at preventing obesity through tailored interventions); MuM-PrediCT (Multimorbidity and Pregnancy: Determinants, Clusters, Consequences and Trajectories); MIREDA (Mother and Infant Research Electronic Data Analysis); and a project examining antibiotics for caesarean section and risk of allergic disease in BiB. She leads a team of researchers providing data support and statistical expertise to both internal and external colleagues. Her research focuses on the health impacts of childhood obesity, particularly in relation to cardiometabolic health, and she has a keen interest in the application of statistical methods for analysing exposures and outcomes across the life course, with a deep knowledge of routine health data.
