Michael McCooe is a Deputy Director of Research at the Bradford Institute for Health Research, Clinical Director at the Improvement Academy, Bradford NHS Representative at the Yorkshire and Humber SDE, Associate Medical Director and a Consultant in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Michael has skills and experience in leading and supporting NHS Trust boards and senior clinical leads in delivering improvement. Through his work Michael has led the development of Structured Judgement Review as an evidence-based approach to learning from deaths in hospital and, in partnership with the Royal College of Physicians, supported national implementation of ‘learning from deaths’ policy. He is a national trainer for the National Mortality Care Record Review Programme.
Michael is Implementation Lead for the NIHR-funded Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration and Michael is a member of the Independent Advisory Group for the NIHR Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Translational Research Centre.
