The NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire & Humber (YH ARC) is hosted at Bradford Institute for Health Research, and delivered through a partnership of NHS organisations, Local Authorities, universities, third sector organisations and industry.
YH ARC has 4 key themes: Healthy Families; Older People; Mental Health; and Urgent Care. Working with our experts in health economics and improvement science we turn world-beating health research in the region into changes in policy and practice to save lives.
We work with policy makers, professionals, commissioners, patients and providers to set a research agenda that improves services and reduces health inequalities. Our communities co-produce research with academics and practitioners to meet local needs.
Our researchers work together with health and care teams to drive research that matters. Partnering on everything from innovative research methodologies, and participant recruitment, to data linkage and implementation of findings. YH ARC promotes cross-disciplinary working and training to build capacity for research that creates system-wide change.
So far, YH ARC has:
• Leveraged over £62million of external funding to support our work
• Recruited more than 50,000 participants into our research
• Collaborated with 41 member organisations
• Worked on over 300 projects
• Supported over 70 PHD students
YH ARC enables people powered, collaborative research that addresses health inequalities, and improves the health and well-being of our communities.
We also offer a varied programme of events and training such as Lunch & Learn webinars and podcasts on our You Tube channel. All our events and resources can be found on our website.
