Abstract

This seminar will examine current and future strategic patient safety challenges, prioritised by NHS England. Focusing on PSIRF the seminar will explore how research impacts on national policy and consider opportunities for future collaboration.

The Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) sets out the NHS’s approach to developing and maintaining effective systems and processes for responding to patient safety incidents for the purpose of learning and improving patient safety. The PSIRF was published in August 2022 and became a requirement in the NHS Standard Contract from 1 April 2024. This seminar will provide an overview of the development of PSIRF and how research continues to inform its design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation.
