Celebrating Excellence in Research: Josie Dickerson and Rosie McEachan Honoured with Visiting Professorships

We’re proud to celebrate two outstanding leaders from the Born in Bradford (BiB) research programme—Professor Josie Dickerson and Professor Rosie McEachan—who have both been awarded Visiting Professor roles at the Department of Health Sciences, University of York.

Proudly born and bred in Bradford, Josie has led numerous flagship applied research programmes including BiBBS, the Better Start Bradford Innovation Hub, and the Bradford Inequalities Unit. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to improving outcomes for families in Bradford and beyond. Josie is also the incoming Chair of the International Network for Research in Inequalities in Child Health, and has secured prestigious grants such as the NIHR Population Health Career Scientist Fellowship and the Wellcome Discovery Award for BiBBS ACHIEVE.

Rosie has been the Director of BiB for the past 13 years, guiding it to become an internationally recognised family of cohort studies and applied research programmes focused on improving child health and wellbeing. She is also a research leader in policy-relevant work, most recently as Chief Investigator of the £7.4 million Healthy Urban Places programme, funded by the UKRI Population Health Improvement initiative.

Their Visiting Professorships are a testament to their leadership, expertise, and impact in public health research. We’re proud to celebrate their achievements and continued dedication to creating healthier futures for children and families.

Congratulations, Professors Josie and Rosie!
