The Bradford and West Yorkshire Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC) has achieved a UK and European first by recruiting the first patient into a pioneering respiratory clinical trial in just 104 days from study start-up.

The trial is investigating whether an injection given once every six months, alongside standard asthma medication, can safely and effectively reduce the number of severe asthma attacks experienced by people with asthma.

This achievement reflects the dedication and collaborative efforts of the CRDC team. A key factor in this success has been the introduction of a dedicated Start-Up Team, which manages much of the administrative work required to establish new studies. By streamlining these processes, delivery teams can focus on what matters most—opening studies quickly and recruiting participants without unnecessary delays.

It has been a real team effort to recruit the first patient in just 104 days. Thanks to our new processes, we are working hard to ensure the rapid and efficient set-up of clinical trials.”
